Green TVET & Sustainability

Integrating environmental awareness and sustainable practices directly into vocational education. As a lead TVET expert, Khan Mohammad Mahmud Hasan specializes in developing specialized modules for green workplace practices and designing cutting-edge renewable energy curricula. The objective is to modernize technical training centers and equip future professionals with the ecological skills necessary to drive the transition toward a sustainable, green economy.

Core Focus Areas

The integration of green skills into vocational training requires a strategic approach that balances ecological responsibility with practical industry demands.

  • Renewable Energy Curriculum Design: Developing comprehensive Competency-Based Learning Materials (CBLMs) and competency standards for critical sectors, including Solar Electrical System Installation and Energy Efficiency.

  • Green Workplace Practices: Creating targeted modules that instill environmental awareness, resource efficiency, and sustainable operational practices across traditional trades and technical occupations.

  • National Framework Alignment: Ensuring all green TVET initiatives are strictly aligned with national systems, such as the NTVQF/NSQF/ASQF, for formal and industry-recognized credentialing.

  • Sustainable Institutional Strategy: Advising training providers on integrating sustainable practices into their core operations, fostering a comprehensive culture of green awareness within the learning environment itself.

Project Portfolio & Leadership

Driving the energy transition requires visionary leadership and a deep understanding of complex labor market dynamics.

  • GIZ Skill4SE Project: Serving as the National Team Leader through Ernst & Young since December 2024. In this critical role, he leads the development of national competency standards and learning materials specifically tailored for the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. The “Skills Development for Sustainable Energy Solutions” (Skills4SE) project, implemented by GIZ, aims to improve the quality of needs-based training programs to effectively address the shortage of skilled workers and aggressively promote the energy transition in Bangladesh.

  • Advancing the Green Economy: Working to bridge the gap between national climate strategies and workforce readiness, ensuring that vocational training systems rapidly evolve to meet the specific technical demands of emerging green industries.

The Value of Green TVET

  • For the National Economy: Directly supports the critical transition to sustainable energy by providing a highly qualified workforce capable of maintaining renewable energy infrastructure and implementing large-scale energy efficiency measures.

  • For Training Institutions: Modernizes educational offerings and institutional reputation, ensuring they remain relevant to emerging global industries and technological advancements in the green sector.

  • For the Workforce: Equips professionals with future-proof ecological skills, significantly increasing their employability in rapidly expanding green sectors while simultaneously promoting safer, healthier work environments.
